I am currently addicted to Sex and the City! Carrie let me borrow the first season of the show's first six episodes on DVD and all I want to do is leave school to go finish it. I fully realize that I missed the boat on this show, old news or whatever, but I just can't tell you enough about it! The ladies' relationships keep you coming back to see what will happen next, the main characters are so distinct that everyone can pick a favorite that they relate to most (I love Charlotte!), and the stories are so well written and tightly based around Carrie's column idea each week! Whew! How could I not even mention the SEX? Holy Toledo, are we talking racy or what? Sure, the show has been cancelled for a long time, but this show is timeless. I want to see every single episode.

So I watched Corky Romano with Sarah and Ivre on Saturday, and boy, I'm floored. It's really good. I mean, could they have given Chris Kattan a more perfect role?

Let me explain...So the guy from Columbo, Corky's dad, is being framed for some bullshit, and asks his dorky son, a veterinarian, to help clear his name. Corky "cons" his way into the force with the help of Zach Galifianakis, and his brother, Chris Penn, who is the brother of Sean Penn, Madonna's old husband. Upon his arrival to the force, people are skeptical, especially Greg Gulia from "The Wedding Singer", Gulia is pissed off that Corky can just waltz right into the force and overshadow him, a highly ranked and qualified agent. Nu uh, no way Jose. So Greg tries to talk to Corky in Chinese, then steals Corky's briefcase, it's so fucked up! But the more Greg fucks with Corky, the more respect Corky gets. Greg ends up being this big criminal in the end, Corky totally found this out, of course, because he is not a stupid cop, but a smart ass vet. Corky also gets high on cocaine with a German Shepherd. Corky also farts on his brother's face.

Deeper social contexts are secretly implied throughout the film, such as the underlying themes of animal liberation, feminism, and tolerance, not to mention the brutal reality of the real criminals that run free in the streets, the police. You really must see this movie, it's so fucking funny. I'm so bored at work.

Out of nowhere, with nice weather all week, Seattle is steeped in a horrible rainy day. My sister and I went to the argentine flea market today.
This one guy had a bunch of records to sell, including like, 1st edition of every beatles record in spanish. Not the singing in spanish, but all the writing on the cover. They all said ´los beatles´. My sister bought ´submarino amarillo´ for 35 pesos (12 dollars). I also bought a b52s record in spanish and a mystery record by some band from buenos aires from the 60´s. coooool.

Lately I've been really into taking screenshots on my computer, as well as the zoom tool. When you combine the two, you can make pixel magic! For example:

The key command (for Mac) is Command+Shift+3 (full screen) or 4 (cross hairs). To zoom, hold Control and scroll up with the mouse. The best part about it is that it saves HUGE pictures. I wonder how it would look in print... I might have to try that sometime soon.

Today, Casey and I did a little screen printing. I brought some of my supplies home from school to work on a poster that's due on thursday. It's show that my class is holding in the SCCC gallery, we each had to do a poster on one of the seven deadly sins.

Once I was finished with that, I taped a stencil that Casey made last week onto the screen and we went to town.

I've been distracted all day, every time I left my classroom was an excuse to skate somewhere. Whether it was to go get lunch, a cup of coffee, or search QFC for paper bags to print on (they didn't have the size I need), I somehow always found the time to bomb Pike and Pine from S3C to downtown. My bus pass was like a chair lift as I took breaks from working on projects every other hour. This just means that I have more work to do tomorrow. If you can't find me in the next 14 days, chances are I'm cracking down on some serious business. See you then.

Up until this last year I had only worked under the table. The benefits were obvious and I always had a lump of cash in my wallet ready to blow on a latte or a new hardcover at the Strand. Well, with a hefty rent came a full time job and the responsibility to file taxes. That day came, today. Today was the most productive day. I woke up early and headed to Central Library with my ssn, proof of wages earned, and my state ID. After the three-hour wait I headed into the conference room and with the aid of United Taxes filed for the fist time in my life. Over this past summer I worked freelance for a non-profit. I earned non-taxed money and was expected to report my earnings to the IRS. That’s what I did and despite my now full time barista job owe $190. While all you jerks wait patiently for your sweet return I’ll be saving tips to pay my debts. After the disappointment I headed to top-pot and tackled my Fafsa. It’s been such a fucked up day of percentages and zeros. My only hope is that some day we can all live off the grid, run free, and master the barter system.

A Magical Evening With the Party Crasher

This weekend Ian and I went to a party with our friend Jeff Kirby, and boy! It was gnarly, to say the least! He told it was going to be a "cabaret" themed birthday party, which sounded lame, but nothing else was really going on, so we went. We arrive at the house, expecting to see some goofballs dressed in goofy dresses and fake eye lashes, and instead what we got was pure gold.

Instead of lame-o's, in even lamer costumes, we ended up raging with the entire burlesque dancer community of Seattle! This is "Shang Hai", she dances at various cabaret clubs on any given night of the week. I immediately fell in love with her, only to have my heart broken later on in the night.

Here is Ian being put into a head-lock by a dancer named "James Blonde". She is actually 4'11'', but wears the biggest heels possible to become way taller. You can see her at The Can Can on weekends with her troupe that I forgot the name of, but I remember it was dumb.
Here is me pouting under the Magical Theater after seeing "Shang Hai" making out with a girl, and realizing I might not be "her type".
The night ended with a very scandalous dance floor, and us getting home way too late. While we both had a blast, I think Ian might be alone next time he wants to go Party Crashing with Jeff. I'll stay home and ice my body from this past weekend.

The idea was brought up that we, the tenants of Kid's Cave, should get Kid's Cave tattoos. Now I'm not a sports kind of guy, but I wouldn't mind this..
If this was seriously considered, I think I would make a couple of changes. First, the weight of the letters are kind of flimsy. I would beef up the letters a little and add a swash to the top of the K, echoing the bottom of the C.
Sorry, I just get excited about type sometimes. Other times it disappoints me.

State of The Union: Kid's Cave

Life has been pretty darn good over hereon our end of things. We have all been pretty busy with our assorted ordeals, but still manage to sneak in a nice meal together from time to time. These are some amazing nachos we all ate, courtesy of Schandrew, last Sunday night. A relaxing time was had by all as a mixture of our young laughter and Young Marble Giants filled the room.

Last Sunday we had a house meeting and determined the need for chore assignments. Ever since then, shit's been off the hook around here. Look at Ian's lovely job he did on the dining room!
If he could only manage to keep his room so nice...

I got a new tattoo. It didn't hurt so bad.

Lot's of awesome musical creation is going on down in our basement, as Andrew and Schanen are a couple of weeks away from creating a chart-topping album about nature and crap. Be on the look out for shows and a split album with Robin and Emily soon.

Finally! The sun is starting to come out as spring begins shows it's beautiful face! That means lots of fun and biking and parties in the park! I'm going to revive the career of my lovely Mercier road bike! Can't wait!

Hopefully we can all jam at the beach and in the sun in the upcoming weeks!

Wow. What a day. I had a day off from work today, so I decided to take a 4 hour nap. While napping, in between Rachelle, Dale, and Casey's motivational "ARISE!" speeches, and Schanen and Andrew's blanket smothering (thanks guys!) I had this really awesome dream inspired by the picture you see above (or to the side, whatever). Wanna hear it? OK!

So I had a dream that all of us at the Kid's Cave had a party where all of our beds were outside. No so much in a conglomerate, more scattered about the block...so every corner you turned, there'd be a new bed. We ate a lot of pizza too, seems like I eat pizza in every dream. But man, what a refreshing dream, thanks brain. What does everyone else dream about?

"Kid's Cave"

Pretty self explanatory, this is what it's all about, people. All day, everyday.

Have you seen Andrew and Schanen's room yet? It is really a sight to behold! I don't even know how to describe this amazing collage of beauty that drapes their full heads of hair while they sleep, except to say that it is one of the most magical things I have ever seen.

This is a fragment of a giant hand-made quilt Schanen and I found at our friends Josh and Susanne's apartment. It is the best piece of found art I have ever seen! It was absolutely humongous and covered in cigarette burns, so I chopped it up and hung it next to my bed. You should come and see it in person, since this picture does it no justice at all!

"Boys Bathroom"
This is a mysterious little thing that adorns Ian, Dale, and I's bathroom. What does the "B" stand for? Bathroom? Baseketball? Bolof? It seems as if it's up to the viewer. Like a modern day Van Gogh, it is truly a thinking man's painting

Further evidence of the fact that Goodwill Outlet is taking over the lives of certain family members of The Cave is our new shelf hanging over the stairs. Not only is the two cent gem of shelf from there, but our little frog pal was discovered on the very same trip! Now we have a place to stow away our treaures and crap and I think Bart is happy to have a new friend.

A little knick-knack I put together using this ancient-tropical Disney rag that Rachelle got for me as a tasty little present. It is currently hanging between "SHANDREW'S" room and my own.

This is a trippy/bloody painting Dale did over a canvas he found at Goodwill Outlet. It is hanging outside of his room. Check out the brutal spillage on to the frame! Gut-wrenching!

Oatmeal
By the way, I don't know if you have met her, but this is our little kitty, Oatmeal. Usually she is a very sweet, precious, creature. Never ruffling feathers or getting in anyone's hair, to use two cliques. Not as of late, though. The past couple of days she has been very "aggro" and out of control. We are all hoping this is just growing pains, and would appreciate if you would keep her in your thoughts (and prayers, if applicable).
